Phaseolus vulgaris MIR1511 genotypic variations differentially regulate plant tolerance to aluminum toxicity

چکیده

The common-bean (Phaseolus vulgaris), a widely consumed legume, originated in Mesoamerica and expanded to South America, resulting the development of two geographically distinct gene pools. Poor soil condition, including metal toxicity, are often constraints crop production. Several P. vulgaris miRNAs, miR1511, respond toxicity. MIR1511 sequence from model sequenced genotypes revealed that, as opposed BAT93 (Mesoamerican), G19833 (Andean) accession displays 58-bp deletion, comprising mature star miR1511 sequences. Genotyping-By-Sequencing data analysis 87 non-admixed Phaseolus genotypes, different species populations, that all Andean part Mesoamerican (MW1) analyzed displayed truncated gene. geographic origin with complete versus showed distribution. ALS3 (Aluminum Sensitive Protein 3) gene, known be important for aluminum detoxification several plants, was experimentally validated target. Roots plants decreased increased transcript levels at early stages under toxicity (AlT), while lacking higher earlier response. Root architecture analyses evidenced tolerance AlT. However, engineered overexpression lower level sensitivity Absence diminished degradation, appears an evolutionary advantage high Al soils drought conditions.

Genotypic Variation in Seedling Tolerance to Aluminum Toxicity in Historical Maize Inbred Lines of Zambia

Maize (Zea mays L) is the most important food grain in sub-Saharan Africa and is mostly grown by small-scale farmers under rainfed conditions. Aluminum toxicity caused by low pH is one of the abiotic factors limiting maize production among smallholder farmers. Therefore, breeding maize hybrids that are tolerant to aluminum toxicity will sustain and increase maize production in these areas. Henc...

Aluminum Toxicity and Tolerance in Plants.

Aluminum (Al) is the most abundant metal in the earths crust, comprising about 7% of its mass. Since many plant species are sensitive to micromolar concentrations of Al, the potential for soils to be A1 toxic is considerable. Fortunately, most of the A1 is bound by ligands or occurs in other nonphytotoxic forms such as aluminosilicates and precipitates. However, solubilization of this A1 is enh...

Root excretion and plant tolerance to cadmium toxicity – a review

Significant quantities of Cd have been added to soils globally due to various anthropogenic activities, posing a serious threat to safe food production and human health. Rhizosphere, as an important interface of soil and plant, plays a significant role in the agro-environmental system. This article presents a review of relationship between root excretion and microorganisms and plant resistance ...

Aluminum Toxicity-Induced Alterations of Leaf Proteome in Two Citrus Species Differing in Aluminum Tolerance

Seedlings of aluminum-tolerant 'Xuegan' (Citrus sinensis) and Al-intolerant 'sour pummelo' (Citrus grandis) were fertigated for 18 weeks with nutrient solution containing 0 and 1.2 mM AlCl₃·6H₂O. Al toxicity-induced inhibition of photosynthesis and the decrease of total soluble protein only occurred in C. grandis leaves, demonstrating that C. sinensis had higher Al tolerance than C. grandis. Us...
